  • Power Point Story Writing Templates: Use PowerPoint story writing templates to help integrate literacy and technology into the classroom. Children love to write stories, using pictures and lots of color. These PowerPoint story writing templates are starting places. Students will add pictures, drawings or clip art to the upper area of the slide, and write a sentence or two to describe each picture. Older grades can add additional interest by using animations and sounds.

  • Learn English Writing: This web offers you writing tips for students of English, such as: sample compositions, write powerful compositions, write memorable conclusions, and so on.

  • Making sentences - Play the games: Students can choose from six different text formats to punctuate and capitalize sentences, using their keyboards and the mouse. Choices include a formal letter, an email, a children's story, a report, a brochure, or a newspaper article. This activity can be used to train students to give the correct intonation to sentences. Each text can be read and heard, and the students decide where to put the stops and when to use a capital letter. The exercise is simple, but if you encourage them to concentrate on the intonation, it can be quite useful. they can also discuss the different meanings a sentence can take if you put the stops in different places.

  • ELC Study Zone: The Study Zone was created for students of the English Language Centre at the University of Victoria. It includes language lessons, practice exercises, and help pages for basic writing skills.

  • Project Writing Better: A page to practice writing. You can upload your essays and they will be corrected and published. You can see more than 1000 essays with possible corrections.

  • Book/Story Writing: These resources are meant for teaching the parts of a book or story such as title, setting, characters, plot, climax, resolution, literary devices, and criticism. The resources are intended for elementary or possibly middle school students, both regular and ESL.

  • Vocabulary.Co: This website offers a fun way to build vocabulary skills through crosswords, quizzes, and so on.

  • E-mail Activities: This article explores the student and teacher benefits of using electronic mail (e-mail) in an ESL writing class. It also explains several e-mail writing activities.

  • Writing Skills: A variety of resources for teaching writing in the classroom, including a magazine project for elementary learners: One World Magazine.

  • Wacky Web Tales: Students introduce a list of words and the programme creates a story with them. Useful for practising grammar categories and to provide a first draft of a writing that students then will change.
